Residence Remodel & Addition (1993) - Topanga, CAThis Cape Cod style home was originally a pink stucco box with a dilapidated detached two-car garage, situated on an unattended flat site in the midst of a neglected orchard. The clients, a young family, recently relocated from the mid-west, desired an open, functional floor plan with a style reminiscent of their hometown roots.
The
resulting design included linking the two structures, adding dormer windows
to increase the infusion of natural light into the living room and into
an attic playroom, and the transformation of the garage into a master
suite. The unified structure was re-sided with shiplap horizontal boards,
new windows and French doors installed, gardens were restored, and new
life was brought to this unique home.
